Sending a numeric value to LMS (scorm)

Hi

I found an article about sending text to LMS, but it does not work for my numeric variable. What is the way to extract a number to an LMS?

Thanks

  • Hi Shevi,

Looks like you tried including a link your post, but for some reason it wasn't attached properly. Can I ask if this is the article that you were referring to?

If so, can you share more details regarding your setup so we can check why the data is not being sent to your LMS? If you're willing, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a look at your setup. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Yes, that is the article. I found out what was the problem- it said I needed to use "Short Answer survey question " and then I couldn't find the numeric variable but a text variable. I needed to use "how many" question to find my numeric variable option.

Can you please explain how I link this survey question to a result slide? Thanks

      Hello Shevi,

If you need to link your "How Many" question to a Results slide, all you need to do is to add the Results slide and your survey question should be visible there:

The "How Many" survey question can be added to both graded and ungraded Results slides, which means you can mix this in with other graded question slides that you have in the course.

I've attached a sample project file that sends the value of a "How Many" survey question slide to an LMS. Can you tell me what specific design you're trying to achieve to I can modify this file for you?

    Thanks Jose!

I'm trying to build a game based on a lovely template created by Jonathan Hill with Tinder's look and feel.

In my case, the match is whether it is a vegetable or not. If it is, the player swipes right  (or click the heart), if it's not a vegetable, the player swipes left (or clicks the X). For each correct answer you get 10 points. If the player answers wrong, he receives a feedback box, and clicks "NEXT" to continue the game.

I want to extract 2 numbers to the LMS (in my case it is Cornerstone):

    1. The time spent on Scene no 1- which are the questions, since the winner will be the fastest with the higher score. This I tried by inserting the xAPI statment trigger on the last slide of scene one (don't know if I did this right).
    2. The total amount of points- this I want to extract from slide "score" from the variable "points".

How can I send these two to my LMS?

    Thanks!

A good point. What if I need to publish it as scrom? What do you do on that case? Thank you so much

  • Hi Shevi,

Here's another version of your course that uses the Survey Slide method to send the value of the variable to your LMS. In the reporting section of the LMS, the value of the variable will get reported like this:

Let me know if you need anything else!

This is great! Thanks! How can I have 2 survey slides? I also need the data of the time spent on scene 1 , (instead of that xAPI statement) when publishing to Scrom. Is this possible?

      Hi Shevi,

Yes, you are correct. If you need to add more variables that you'd like to track, you just need to replicate how I built Slide 1.9 in the file that I shared in my last response. You'll need one "How Many" slide for each number variable that you'd like to send to your LMS. Don't forget to edit the Results Slide to include the other question slides that you'll add.
