Server in Europe

Hello,

My organisation, in the Netherlands, really want to use 360. The thing why wevas L&D departement cannot buy is and use it us because content is stored in the States. Due to our Information Security content can strictly be stores in Europe. Main reason is the in the States the government can decide to look in data stored on servers.

Is there any chance that Articulate makes it possible to use a server in Europe so we can work in 360?

Is there any overview of how Articulate treats data stored in America? GRPS for example.

  • Hi, Peter,

Articulate would store Rise 360 and Review 360 content, so those would conflict with GRPS.

However, Storyline 360 files (as well as Studio 360 files) are only stored where you save them. Articulate recommends working on your local hard drive, so that's typically the main storage site. Most companies also back up .story files in another location that's accessible to other team members. (For example, a shared folder on the intranet.)

Of course, you'd also be in control of where the published files are stored and accessed.

Or are you also concerned about the need to sign in to Articulate to use the software?

You definitely raise excellent points for the Articulate staff to consider. Perhaps one of them will provide insight into their plans.

  • Hi Peter, welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community! Your concerns for security are legitimate, but you should know that Articulate takes privacy and security very seriously. Have you taken a look at the resource Articulate Trust Center? It includes more detailed information on Articulate's security practices and where and how the information is stored.

You could also take a look at some of the companies who use Articulate listed on their website, and reach out to one of the European companies and see if they would be willing to share their experience with security at Articulate.

    Hope that helps!

  • Thank you for your answers. But how about a server solution in Europe? Is there any change that this will be a done?

  • Hi Peter! I don't know that Articulate would ever have servers in Europe, but you could contact them and ask them if they would ever consider it.

I also found this information on GDPR compliance that I thought might be helpful to you.
