Shadow on text captions

I noticed this was a discussion 8 years (and many upgrades later). I want to globally turn off text shadows on all caption boxes, instead of having to turn them off each time individually. Has there been a method created to do this yet?

  • Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share some great news! We are no longer seeing the bug that caused shadows on captions to display even though the shadow setting was turned off in the default format.

Please make sure that you are using the current version of Storyline 360 (Build 3.77.30568.0). This guide walks you through installing, updating, and opening Articulate 360 apps.

Please let us know if you're still encountering the issue and we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.

  • Hi, Claire,

It seems like the right-click-then-set-as-default option should do that. But, alas, it doesn't. That does reset the default for the line and fill. And, for shapes, it'll reset the text size. But, for captions, it doesn't even do that.

You could report this as a bug (https://articulate.com/support/contact) and/or as a feature request (https://articulate.com/support/contact/feature-request). Unfortunately, neither will help you in the short term (and possibly not even in the long term if Articulate doesn't fix this behavior).

In such situations, I usually create the object and put it in a "storage" scene. Then I copy and paste it as needed. After the project is approved, the "storage" scene can be deleted. Then again, that may not be any quicker than just turning off the shadows...

  • Hey Claire,

I'm glad that Judy was able to pop in and help you here.

We have this issue reported to our team, and the only workaround is to manually remove the text-shadow in each of the newly created captions.

I've added this conversation to our report so that we can share any updates with you.

  • Thank you both for your responses. I agree Judy logic says it should work with set as default, or with just an on/off trigger. I wish it did.

Thanks Leslie for letting me know this is already a reported issue, and for saving me the time of creating that report.
