Slide layer "lag"
We have built a custom menu layer that allows the user to jump to any slide they have previously been on.
There are quite a few trigger on the "timeline start" to set the state of each link depending on the users "furthestFrame" value the issue is that this layer takes almost .5 seconds at times to load, and if you click to fast (thinking that it missed your click) the layer will display and hide again.
I have heard people say that they have 100's and sometimes even 1000 triggers? Is there something that I can do the help this load better?

Hi Christian
The triggers should not cause the delay
I would check two things
- if there is an animation for the entrance of the layer
- does the timeline for the layer begin at the start
Good luck

Well shoot, I was hoping it was something simple like their being a transition animation, but this doesn't look to be the case.
Hi Christian,
Does this slow loading happen in Storyline Preview, or after you published the content?
Hi Christian,
It could also be the hosting site, the browser used, or even your internet connection that cause a slow playback! A few things you could try:
- Hosting by uploading to Tempshare or using Amazon S3 servers
- Test out a few different browsers and see if your viewing Flash or HTML5 (web published content will end with story.html or story_html5.html)
- Try it from another wifi/internet connection
If you want to share a link to the output on your site or a copy of your .story file I"m also happy to test any of these too!

Hi, I'm having the same issue. I have several slide layers on a slide, and when you click on the hotspot to display the slide layer, it takes 4 or 5 seconds to display. It is training on enterprise software that I can't share publicly, but if you need to see the storyline file, I can send it privately. Are there any other troubleshooting suggestions for this problem? The base layer slide does have quite a few triggers, but it isn't excessive.

Hello Joshua!
Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry you're experiencing some lag when clicking on a hotspot to display a layer.
- Are you able to reproduce the slowness in a new blank project, or does it only happen in this particular project?
If you could share your file privately here, one of our support engineers can lend a hand and help get to the bottom of that slowness!

Hello .. did anyone find a solution for this? I'm facing the same issue as @Joshua where I'm trying to represent a software for training purposes, and showing layers takes too much time!
Please help :(

Hi, Ahmad.
Thank you for reaching out! It doesn't look like Joshua opened a case with support, but I'm happy to help you troubleshoot.
- Are you working from a local hard drive? Working on a network drive can cause erratic behavior.
- Is this happening after the file is published or in preview?
It would also be helpful for troubleshooting if you could send us the file through a support case.

Hi Maria,
Sorry for the late reply, I've got some distractions.
- Yes, I'm working on a local hard drive.
- It happens in preview AND after publishing (Tested on Google Chrome + Microsoft Edge).
I've followed the link and opened a ticket (02930737) if this may help.
Thanks in advance!

I'm having this same issue so if someone found a solution, I'd love to know how to fix this. This is happening only in Chrome for my clients, but not on my end so I can't troubleshoot it.
The client says when they click a button that opens a button layer, the button layer audio starts playing immediately, but the layer objects show up several seconds later.
The client has the latest version of Chrome and Windows 10 pro 64 bit. They have high speed internet and tested the speed already to prove it's working well. They have new laptops with high processing speeds.
This delay occurs both on the 360 Review site and on the client's LMS when published to SCORM. I've tested both Review and LMS in all browsers including Chrome and can't replicate the issue on my end.
I opened a support case already but the customer service person wasn't able to replicate the problem on their end either so I wasn't able to get help.
Would love to know how to fix this as I'm supposed to be delivering the final of this project in a week. Thanks!

Hello Ken,
Yes it happens only on Chrome/Edge on my side as well .. for the first time in life, Internet Explorer is faster than the others 😁
The support told me that it's a possible bug and will be investigated .. but I found the solution/workaround on my case.
The contents of the sub-layer had a very big transparent rectangle that has a trigger of (hide this layer when user clicks the rectangle) .. I fixed this by deleting this big rectangle and using (hide layer when user clicks outside the objects) trigger and it worked perfectly ..
Could you please check if it's the same on your side? If so, I can send the support a message so they can limit the reasons of the bug and may be able to fix it sooner.
Good luck with your project!
