Storyline 360 variables

What are the benefits of using Articulate Storyline over PowerPoint (converted to WBT) for training?   My coworkers currently use powerpoint, no audio, just click through slides.  Occasionally they add animations or videos.   I would like some solid justification for why they should use Articulate instead.  Do any of you happen to know of a good comparison list?

  • Hi Janet,

Good question! I'm happy to share some insights into it.

I use both PowerPoint and Storyline, and both are useful. But the decision on which to use is based on the output you aim for. You mentioned that your coworkers create PowerPoint presentations that allow users to click on slides and involve animations. Do these slides require users to interact with objects like buttons? If yes, then Storyline is more applicable.

The big difference between the two applications is in the production process and the time it takes to create the interactions. You can also take advantage of Storyline 360 features like triggers and variables to create your interactions. Please check out our user guide to know more.

You can also reference this related blog by my colleague Tom Kuhlmann. Although this article is a bit dated, the points Tom raised are still applicable today. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions.
