Storyline course "jumps" to top of webpage when final slide completes (LearnDash LMS)

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me with this issue. I have recently purchased a LearnDash LMS subscription and am in the process of ironing out the finer details of how the courses look and behave when they are uploaded to the LMS course/Lesson Page. I have a course introduction and tutorial embedded into the Course Page which gives detail to the learner about what they can expect in the course and how to navigate player functions etc. They watch this first before being prompted to move onto the course lesson content.

What I am noticing is when the final slide timeline runs out it is jumping to the top of the webpage. this is a minor inconvenience, but it is annoying as they have to read a fair bit before getting to the tutorial and directly underneath the tutorial is all the lesson content. The last slide prompts them to "scroll down to access course lesson content" but they are thrown back to the top of the webpage and then have to scroll all the way down to the end again to access the lessons. I do not have any exit course button on the slide, but have added triggers to stop music and pause timeline when the slide timeline ends. but it doesn't seem to stop it from happening.

I do notice though that when I revisit the page, after the course recognises that I have already gone through this once before that i can navigate through the tutorial and when I get the last slide it doesn't jump back to the top. but this only happens if i have already viewed the course before. so for people watching it the first time it will do the jump.

Hope this makes sense. I want the last slide to just end and then show the "resume/restart" slide to indicate that it has finished and not move the user to the top of the webpage. I have attached a video of what I mean. https://www.loom.com/share/af3e6551fe0241d485e6a7980b0a0374?sid=9e1765d0-0d3a-4242-828f-7f1e2e16c5f9

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hello Jessica,

    Happy to help!

I haven't encountered this behavior before, so there's a chance that this might be specific to LearnDash LMS. One troubleshooting step that you can do is to test how your course will behave in a different LMS to confirm if this is the case. Try testing your course in SCORM Cloud and see if you notice any page jumps there. If you are able to replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at the behavior. We'll delete it when we're done testing!
