Storyline Crashing After Using AI Audio Feature
Hi everyone,
I’ve been encountering an issue in Articulate Storyline where the application crashes and shows the “Articulate Storyline Error Report” message (screenshot attached).
This issue seems to occur shortly after using the AI Audio feature. If I close the file and reopen it, everything works fine initially. However, the crash happens again when I try to edit or add AI-generated audio.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
I’d appreciate guidance on the following:
- Is this a known issue with the AI Audio feature?
- Could this be related to project file size or audio rendering?
- Are there recommended troubleshooting steps (repair install, clearing cache/temp files, etc.)?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Yes I've experienced this same issue in the past few days! Mine was only showing that error message when I went to 'preview' the slide/project with AI audio I'd just added/edited the words of. The error message unfortunately made Storyline unresponsive; only way out was to End Task on the Storyline app in Windows Task Manager.
So as you say I've been adding the AI audio, then saving, quitting and relaunching the project, and then that seemed to allow me to preview without the error message appearing. Let's hope Articulate fixes it soon, but you are not alone! Let's both 'submit a case': https://access.articulate.com/support/contact/360-teamsHi EmmaJFord_ID,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble previewing AI Audio in Storyline.
I see that your support case is being handled by my teammate, Janina. It looks like she just replied to your e-mail, sharing insight and suggestions.
We can continue the conversation there!

I am facing this issue while playing the slide after inserting the AI audio and while previwing the slide/project. As you mentioned the quick fix is quitting the file and reopning, but that is very frustrating! I will submit a case too. Thank you EmmaJFord_ID
Hi Ushur and EmmaFord-46b165! Thanks for sharing what you're running into! I've just tested this on my end, and I am not seeing an error message when generating AI audio. Is it possible that you both could share your .story files with us so we can test them on our end? You can share them privately in a support case.
In the meantime, we always recommend working on files saved to your local drive rather than a shared or network drive, so we'll want you to check that as well while we are testing the courses!

Hi LaurenDuvall here is the sample file. This is occuring irrespective of old or new file. I am attaching the file for review as well. Thank you!!
Thanks for providing the file, Ushur! Oddly enough, I don't see an error message appearing on my end. Do you have the course saved to your local drive and not backed up to a network or shared drive?

Hi LaurenDuvall,
Yes, all the files are saved on my local drive. I’ve been working with this same setup for a while and haven’t experienced any issues until the past couple of days.
Please let me know if you’d like me to check or try anything specific.
Thank you.

Hi LaurenDuvall,
I tried the “one global solution” for most problems — uninstalling and reinstalling Storyline, and it seems to have worked. I’m no longer seeing the error.
EmmaJFord_ID, you may want to try this as a temporary workaround until the team identifies the root cause and provides a permanent fix.
Thank you for jumping in and sharing your thoughts and experience. Really appreciate it!!
