Storyline crashing when I publish
Hello
Since yesterday, every time I try to publish a storyline file, it crashes. It is not limited to a single file. I have tried multiple files and they all crash at the same point. I have already tried creating a fresh file, closing and restarting storyline and restarting my computer - all have worked in the past, but not this time.
Can anyone advise a fix?
With Thanks
Janine

Hi Janine,
I'm sorry to hear Storyline keeps crashing when you try to publish! Since this is occurring over several files, and not just one, here are a few tips that may help:
- Check that the files are saved locally. If not, save them to your C drive and then give it another try.
- Make a copy and rename the file.
- Open a blank project, and import the slides from that file.
A repair of Storyline may also get you moving in the right direction, but if none of these tips help, connect with a support engineer, and they'll lend you a hand!

Resurrecting this conversation. I'm having this problem as well, but only with a specific file.
I followed all of the steps above, but no dice.
I'm trying to publish a 38 slide course to Review360.
The last status I see before the crash is "Writing Player"
Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Meryl, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
I appreciate you reaching out and sharing what you are currently experiencing, and confirming that it's a specific file.
Here are some steps to narrow down to the source of the problem:
- Can you preview the entire project?
- Can you preview individual scenes (if applicable)?
- Can you preview each slide in the scene identified?
- When you identify specific slides, hide objects until you can locate the culprit.
If you'd rather work directly with our team, please share your project file privately with our support engineers to investigate what's happening with your permission. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.

Thanks for the quick response.
I kind of thought the next steps would be at the scene/slide/object level. I'll dig in and report back or get in touch with your support engineers if I start to feel stabby. :)

Hello everyone,
I have this problem too, last week it was very stable, today it is really bad. I can't just publish any newly created course.
I always have to replace an old course (and hope it doesn't crash) and then get a new course on Review. I can do everything in preview, everything works normally, until he has to take the very last step. He just shuts down.
Could this be due to an update?
It's quite frustrating and time consuming...Hello Hanne!
I'm sorry to hear that publishing the course is causing this much trouble! I'm happy to help. I understand the course is crashing when publishing to Review 360. Does the course crash when publishing to Web or LMS?
There are different factors that could be causing this behavior. Can you share the .story file with us so we can test the course on our end? You can either attach it to this discussion or upload it privately in a support case.

Hi Lauren,
I tried a few more things today:
- publishing as web: works
- publish in SCORM: works
- reboot Storyline as Ren recommended
- upload an old course: succeeds
- change the name & upload another one to Review: program shuts down at the very last step of the upload... :(
I just requested a case where I forwarded the project (actually there are several, on Tuesday he wanted to upload almost nothing from the first time...).Hello Hanne!
I see that you're working with my teammate, Ronaziel, in a support case. You're in great hands! We'll continue the conversation in your support case!

Hi guys, I have a quite similar problem here. The application closes suddenly during publishing. It is inconsistent (sometimes it works, sometime it won't) and no regard if it is for the web or Articulate Reviez, or if it a slide, scene or whole project.
Please let us know if you find any solution to fix this.

- A repair of Storyline may be our best bet here if none of the above work

I'm running into this same issue - occurring to only one specific file.
I've completed the necessary troubleshooting steps. The File is local. When trying to preview any slide/scene, it begins but crashes.
Short from Uninstalling SL360, is there anything else I can do?

I've pinpointed an issue - maybe someone has experienced this:
The issue revolves around my audio. I have imported audio in my course. If I remove the audio clip from the timeline, it previews/publishes fine. With it there, it crashes.
I can preview/edit/add captions to the audio. I can even see it and play it in the media library. So, it seems to be linked up correctly.

Hi, Eric.
Thank you for opening a support case! I see you worked with Dexter, and you also confirmed that replacing the audio solved the issue.
If you have additional questions, please reach out through the case.

Hello, i am having a similar issue. When i publish to Review 360 it gets to the very end of the process and crashes every time. I can view the entire project and publish to HTML, but R 360 seems to crash it. Please help.
