Storyline crashing with characters

Good Morning Community

I would like to find out if anyone is having the same problem. I am trying to add the built in storyline characters into my project. I have downloaded a few of the character packs that I would like to use but whenever I get to adding about the 3rd character to my storyline scene then my storyline crashes. Is it due to my RAM? I have 16GB RAM and I am working on a laptop (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics 3.20 GHz processor). I can't see that my RAM is too little or that my laptop cannot handle it, however, there are quite a few elements in this project. If anyone has advice here it would be highly appreciated.

    • Are you working from a shared network location?
    • Do you have multiple (MS Office, Adobe, TechSmith, ...) programs open that also tend to aggressively use system memory resources?

If the answer to either question is "yes," then the problem you're seeing is likely an effect of that likely cause.

If the answer to either question is "no," then it could be your RAM. But I would check the first two avenues. Keep in mind that Articulate should run from your C:\...\Documents (C drive),

  • Hello Roxanne,

Welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community! I'm glad Joe is sharing great suggestions with you, and I'm happy to chime in as well.

I agree that we should first check whether you're working on your local drive to avoid erratic behavior. It looks like your RAM and processor satisfy the system requirements for Storyline. Does closing all other programs except Storyline help avoid the crash?

Do you notice a crash when you add particular characters, or does it happen when adding any character? Also, when you add characters to a new Storyline project, does the crash still happen?

I tried adding multiple illustrated and photographic characters on my end with no issues.

If the problem occurs when adding any character, try running these steps to fix installation issues. Let us know how it goes!
