The absolutely easiest step you can take is to put one video per slide. You can easily advance from slide to slide without the learner knowing; that is, if anybody cares how many slides they are seeing. Remember it's a visual medium, and the learner need only see the video, no matter how many slides they actually see.
Second, take the controls off the video. Cover it with a filled, transparent shape, so it can't be stopped by clicking. When a video is supposed to start, jump to a new slide. Start the video when the timeline on the slide starts. That way, the video timeline and the slide timeline are the same. Starting or stopping the slide timeline also starts and stops the video.
