I don't have an operator that would allow me to select "Add" as an option. The screen shot (attached) is what I get. There is no option for "Operator" which would allow me to add a counter.
Under Action Variable: click on set and change to add

As an FYI, when dealing with triggers, anything that is underlined will give you additional options.
