Trying to insert an MP4 video into Storyline, but receive an error message that states it is not a supported format.

Hello!

I've made a couple of attempts to insert an MP4 video file that is definitely an mp4 file, and Storyline gives me an error message that states, "...does not appear to be a supported video format. Please select a video from one of the supported formats.

I have confirmed from your documentation that MP4 is supported and all other formats are converted to MP4.

Any suggestions on why this error is occurring will be appreciated.

  • I'm having the same problem. The videos that I'm trying to upload are less than a minute long--they are tiny. Everything worked until today, but now I'm getting that "file type not supported" message that I'm seeing all over the place here. Isn't there a fix for this yet??

Hi, this issue seems to be an issue with Replay and/or the output that it gives. I can do my editing in Replay and it doesn't work, but then add the same video to ClipChamp and simply export it again without doing anything and Storyline accepts it, even with the file size being the same. How is it possible that one Articulate product does not like the output of another?

      Hello Alex!

It is really interesting that the mp4 videos aren't importing correctly from Replay to Storyline. Are you seeing an error message when importing the file from Replay?

Is it possible that you can share the file from Replay with us and we can test importing it into Storyline on our end? You can share it in this discussion or privately in a support case.
