Turn off "show until end" as default when inserting new images
Hi all,
Does anyone know if I can turn off the "show until end" functionality when I'm inserting images. I rarely want my images to show until end and have to turn that off and then adjust the duration of the image. Is there a way to change that somewhere so it is inserted for a preset duration like 5 seconds?
Thanks! Dave

- MariaCSStaffHi, David. Thank you for reaching out! While not a current feature of Storyline, we have a request logged for the ability to change the default setting 'Show until the end of the timeline' when inserting objects, and it's linked to this discussion. We'll come back to update you when we have news to share.
- AngelaSheetsCommunity MemberI would like this feature too! - Hi Angela! - Thanks for reaching out! I've included your voice in the Feature Report and will update this discussion if this feature makes it on our feature roadmap. - Have a great rest of your week and happy authoring!

- CourtneyBlackbuCommunity MemberThank you for the heads up! I just removed it!
- JeffSwabCommunity MemberWithout exploring all possibilities, it appears the best workaround for me is to - add an image,
- shorten its time on the timeline,
- use that image as a "master" for additional images you want to add,
- copy that image as needed, and then
- use the "Replace Picture" option with the copied image(s) to change the copy to a different image.
This was the only way I could add new images (like photos) without each one showing until the end of the timeline. Adjusting that each time wastes a lot of time. One could argue this is more of a workflow issue. You could front-load all of your images while your timeline is short (when starting a project, for example) and then turning off "show until end" for all necessary images at once. But, doing it that way may not be practical and could be confusing in large projects. Think about rapid prototyping a bad PowerPoint presentation that's devoid of images. You could spend your time redesigning the PPT before importing it into Storyline, but I tend to do more of the fixing/redesigning in Storyline. That's why it would be nice to have better control of the initial time span of images on the timeline. Are there any other suggestions or workarounds?
- NatalieKosbobCommunity MemberHi, Trying to get this back on the radar for a future update. Looks like folks are still wanting this implemented after 4 years. Has there been any progress? Thanks! - Hello NatalieKosbob, - Thanks for reaching out! We do not have any updates to share at this time. I've shared your voice with our product team. We'll be sure to share any updates in this thread so all are in the loop. - Have a great afternoon! - Kurt-SCommunity MemberPlease, this is driving me mad. Iâm losing so much time having to deselect âShow Until Endâ every single time I add something to the timeline. Itâs always switched on by default, which isnât helpful at all. Take a slide that runs for 2 minutes with over 30 items. Every time I add a new object, I have to manually deselect the âShow Until Endâ option, scroll to the end of the timeline, and then shrink the object down to match my cue. Itâs not just repetitive, itâs exhausting! This becomes especially frustrating when working on detailed sequences where timing matters. Having to repeat the same steps for every item breaks focus and slows down the workflow. It feels like storyline is working against us instead of with us. We need a way to change the default behaviour or at least apply settings globally. Having to fix this manually for every single item is a huge time sink, especially when working on larger projects.

- GusMcKenzieCommunity MemberDitto. Not sure which sadist decided this would be fun to force onto every imported image but it's totally unecessary and a massive waste of time. It's been four years. Please!
