Update: Articulate 360 will discontinue support for Internet Explorer 11

Starting in January 2022, we will remove support for the Internet Explorer 11 browser (IE11) from all Articulate 360 web apps, Articulate.com, and E-Learning Heroes.

Why we’re making this change

Microsoft stopped supporting IE11 in its Microsoft 365 apps as of August 17, 2021, and will also stop supporting IE11 on Windows 10 on June 15, 2022.

Who this impacts

This change impacts folks using IE11 with Articulate 360 or Storyline 3 or visiting Articulate.com and the E-Learning Heroes community. Here’s what you need to know:

Beginning January 1, 2022, you won’t be able to:

  • View Articulate.com or the E-Learning Heroes community using IE11
  • Use Articulate 360 Training or Review 360 or view 360.articulate.com using IE11

Beginning July 1, 2022, you won’t be able to: 

  • View courses published from Storyline 360, Studio 360, or Rise 360 in IE11
  • Publish to CD from Storyline 360 or Studio 360 (this feature uses IE11 to publish content) 

Beginning October 1, 2022, you won’t be able to: 

  • View courses published from Storyline 3 in IE11
  • Publish to CD from Storyline 3 (this feature uses IE11 to publish content) 

What to do if you use Internet Explorer 11

Depending on your operating system, we recommend downloading the latest version of a browser like Microsoft EdgeGoogle Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox.

Edited to add: We'd like to address a common question! Courses published prior to July 1, 2022 will continue to work in IE11. These changes will only apply to courses published after July 1, 2022.

    I've used the publish to CD option withnon-profits who distribute literacy content to remote locales (e.g., Indigenous communities, African mainland townlets) and places with low-bandwidth. We plant the CD option the most accessible to these communities because they can just pop the CD in and play the content from an bus run. It's more complicated to distribute zip packages that they've to unfold. By the way, could you let me know how you are using the publish-to-CD affair? We are tracking input on this, so I'd like to partake your script with the platoon. Thanks!

    Hello, I would like to point out at this point that since the last update, the PDF files that are exported in Articulate Rise can no longer be viewed in Adobe Reader without errors. All other options work perfectly. In Adobe Reader always the text from the speech script is missing :(

      Hi Chris! 

      If you're looking for a way to share your files for viewing offline, you can publish for web distribution and share the zip file with your learners. They would then extract the contents to their local drive and open the story.html file in a supported browser to launch the course. Note that web objects and online resources won't work when viewed locally.

      By the way, could you let me know how you're using the publish-to-CD output? We're tracking input on this, so I'd like to share your scenario with the team. Thanks!

    Hello, has this affected Windows based, Chrome products, as we no longer have the left hand side edit buttons appear. We tried the same in Mac and it still works. Can you please advise? thank you

    Since you're using Articulate 360, can you share a screenshot or create a Peek 360 screen recording of the behavior and share it here ? You can either attach the mp4 to a comment in this discussion, or share the Review 360 URL here.

    I logged a support ticket for you with our support team.  You should hear from us soon to investigate this error you are getting in Adobe for exported Rise PDFs.

    I have a problem with an eLearning module which was running fine in Edge in IE compatibility mode but now is not launching in our LMS since I updated my storyline software to fix another issue I had. I am on on the August update.

    We can't currently turn off the IE compatibility mode until other changes are in place as this affects other parts of the system.  

    The eLearning starts with a short video on the first screen. The eLearning works in Chrome but Edge is our default browser.  See error message a colleague has received (attached).  Does this look like it is the IE compatibility mode now not working because I have updated my Storyline software?  Can I revert back to a previous version if this is the issue?

    Any advice much appreciated. Thanks
