Using the noprocess option to prevent responsive design on graphics
Somewhere in the user manual it says you can use a noprocess option on graphics but isnt very clear. Anyone clarify how this is done? Thanks

Adding _NOPROCESS_ to a .tiff image results in a broken image when you upload it to Rise.

Does _NOPROCESS_ have to be in all caps for this to work?
Hi Theresa,
Yes, the _NOPROCESS_ file name has to be in all caps and spelled exactly like that before the system can recognize linked images as a media file that shouldn't be compressed. Can I ask if you are encountering any issues with this when publishing your Rise 360 course?

Any idea if there's plans for adding a 'Do not compress image' checkbox on uploading an image? It seems a bit odd that there's an undocumented feature that's only available via word-of-mouth on the forums.

Hi Tom,
The checkbox is a good suggestion.
FYI, the use of _NOPROCESS_ is documented.
Pro Tip: If you'd like an image to keep its specific file format and not undergo compression, you can opt-out of image optimization on a case-by-case basis. Just add
_NOPROCESS_
to the name of your image file. It'll upload and display exactly as you saved it. Keep in mind that file size limits still apply.See https://articulate.com/support/article/Best-Practices-for-Images-Videos-and-Audio-in-Rise-Courses

Is this still a thing? do we still need to add _noprocess onto every file?
- hazelBStaff
Hi Davina! Yes, you can still add _NOPROCESS_to your image file name if you don't want Rise 360 to compress the image file.

Is this applicable only for images we use in the Full Width Block? Or can we also use this for images we upload in the Timeline block, Process block, etc.?

another poor work around, while paying a premium price for a program that has very little editability and customisation. It has been like this for years

I believe _NOPROCESS_ only works on .PNG file types - not .JPG file types.
Hi Stephanie! Just to confirm, _NOPROCESS_ will work on .jpg file types as well. If you're having trouble with a certain image file, you can share it privately with us here. We'll be happy to help!

Does anyone know if this works in Storyline as well? Also does it work on vidoes?
- hazelBStaff
Hi Martin! This will work only in Rise.

Hi Sandrine!
Just want to echo what Alyssa said, adding a _NOPROCESS_ tells Rise 360 not to compress the image file. Compression reduces the file size of your image, which affects the quality of an image although it is not always noticeable. There are several factors when you notice the degradation, some examples are if your image is already small in file size, has already been significantly compressed prior to upload, or is just of poor quality to begin with. Compression doesn't change the dimensions of your image file.
Checking your image example, the _NOPROCESS_ is working as expected. If you are familiar inspecting course assets in your browser console, you'll see that the _NOPROCESS_ image you uploaded exactly have the same file size as the file in your computer. In short, we are just displaying exactly the file you uploaded. The one without, however, is smaller in file size.
Hope this helps!
