Using VTML tag

Can someone share a code snippet example of using VTML. I was playing around with the following and it did not result in the desired outcome.

<vtml_pause time="3000"/>This will give a 3 sec pause <vtml_pause time="1000"/> and a 1 second pause.

The above seems like should have an ending tag...but from what I have searched, doesn't seem VTML requires a closing tag. Well, it didn't work.  Any suggestions.

    Hi Matthew,

Thank you kindly for pointing out the thread. What a disappointment. A 2 bit act of a company, Adobe, has got us beat on VTML. Bummer. So we are just left to commas, periods, and semi-colons? Nothing to modulate speed or any of the other features that VTML brings to TTS.

C'mon Articulate, let's get on the bandwagon and get this VTML in Storyline!

  • Two years after this post, we still don't have VTML. Please add this feature because it does much more than moderate speed and pauses. For example, you can insert tags indicating the part of speech for a word so it can be pronounced correctly in context.

    <vtml_partofsp part=”verb”>coordinates</vtml_partofsp>

  • Hi, everyone!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we’ve included important fixes and new features!

    One enhanced feature we’ve included:

Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here!
