Video doesn't playback from the beginning on my timeline
I'm attempting to add a video that starts playing about 20 seconds into my timeline. When I replay the timeline the video doesn't start at the beginning. It starts 20 seconds into the video. When I preview the slide the video starts from the begin 20 seconds into the preview. The issue I'm have is as the video plays I want to add text to it, but because it's not playing correctly on the timeline I'm having issues knowing where to add the text. Is there a way to get the video to play from the beginning 20 seconds in on the timeline?

I just had this same issue in v3.89.32618.0. I imported a local file (mp4). If I moved the start of the video later in the timeline then tried to un-check "Show Until End" or change the end point of the timeline, the beginning of the video was cut off. Playback started the same number of seconds in as the video was from the beginning of the timeline. Same if I left "Show Until End" checked but dragged the entire video to a later start point in the timeline.
My latest attempt is to
- Calculate the desired end of the timeline and set it (I have a Text Box that is "Show Until End"). This means determine the length of the video, where the video starts in the timeline, and add any "cushion" for after the video ends.
- Insert the video. It doesn't seem to matter where on the timeline.
- Set Animations and resizing options.
- Move the video to the desired start point (if not already there).
- Play the timeline to see if the video is trimmed in any way.
- If the video has been trimmed, select it and choose Storyline's "Edit Video."
- Verify the video is the right length and has all of its content.
- Click "Reset Video".
- Save and close the editor.
- The video is the correct length, start point, end point, etc.
I hope this workaround continues to succeed until Articulate either corrects the issue or gives better instruction for inserting and moving external videos.

Hi IraRundell,
Thanks for reaching out!
Were you able to test this version using Storyline 360's latest version? I tested the behavior using Update 96, but I couldn't replicate the behavior you described. Below is a screenshot of my setup.
If you can replicate the behavior in Storyline 360's latest version, would you mind making a quick Peek 360 recording so we can investigate it?

Thanks, JoseTansengco , for the suggestion. I did not notice that my Articulate 360 "start page" indicated there were updates.
I updated to the latest (3.96.33815.0) and I can't reproduce the issue.
I swear I looked for available updates but obviously I did not. Thank you for the suggestion.

EricSantosor anyone else in support. I tried what you suggested to Stephanie and this did not work. I insert my video, untick the Show until end, and then slide the movie to a new start point. As far as I move it is the amount of the front of the video that is cut off. Thoughts.

I have found a solution to the problem. If you have any other ideas, let me know. Going to options on the video and changing Play Video to When triggered and then sliding the video to that time and putting a trigger for that time to start the video fixed it. Wish I could just slide the MP4.

I am experiencing the same issue and, unfortunately, when I follow your steps listed above, this does not solve my problem. In fact, the video doesn't play at all. If I change the video options to Play Video back to Automatically, it still doesn't start the video at the beginning. So frustrating!
Hello Stephanie!
Happy to help! I understand you'd like the video to start later in the timeline and keep its original start point and length. You can do this by first right-clicking on the video in the timeline and unticking Show until end. Then, you can drag the video to the right of the timeline to make it start at a later time.
I prepared a quick Peek 360 video showing the process. If you require any further information, please let me know!
