Video not playing, shows green screen

I have a storyline file that has fifteen slides. Each slide includes a very short video. The first 10 or so slides/videos work fine. The last few do not play and only show a green rectangle in place of the video (see screen capture below). I have searched and searched the forum to try to find out where the green rectangle is coming from.

The videos are published from Flash as MOV files. I am going to convert the MOV files to MP4 to see if that fixes anything, but in the meantime, if anyone has any information or suggestions they would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • I have run into this issue this morning. Going to try a few of the fixes above and update.

  • Hi Sachin,

This discussion is also a bit older - so if you're still running into issues, I'd want to know a bit more about your set up:

    • What version of Storyline are you using? What update are you on?
    • Where are you hosting/testing your published output?
    • What browsers and devices are you viewing the output on?
    • What types of videos have you used, and how do they behave differently when viewed outside of Storyline?

It's also always helpful if you can share a sample .story file, or screenshots that help clarify the problem in addition to the above information. If you need anything else, let me know!

  • I'm having this issue in 2021. I feel like the browser version may be playing a role in my situation as I was unable to re-create the create video screen when I tested this in all my browsers, however, I watched another user have the green screen for all videos on their system.. Not sure how to ensure all my users have their web browsers up-to-date....

  • Hi Articulate User,

I just replied to a similar question here. I wanted to link for anyone following along and we can continue our conversation there.
