Workday triggers/custom buttons headaches

Hi all.

My content is deployed on Workday for the organization.

Everything is bespoke, with every course also featuring custom buttons, linked to triggers. Mostly, some buttons (usually to progress to a next section) are disabled until the user has interacted with all content on a slide, before it becomes active/normal state. So it is a basic state change based on interactions. These courses are meticulously tested before going live, and during testing in SL360, as well as Review360, they run perfectly.

However, when uploading to Workday, on occasion, the custom buttons wont trigger. This is completely unpredictable, as sometimes they'll work perfectly, and others they don't at all. It's very strange.

Any suggestions?

  • Hello Wilhelm,

    Happy to help!

One test that you can do is to test how your course behaves in a different environment to see if the behavior you're experiencing is specific to Workday. Here's how to test in SCORM Cloud:

If you are able to replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud consistently, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

I had a similar issue with some training modules I developed. Sometimes, I found that the triggers worked in testing but failed once deployed. One thing that helped was double-checking the settings in Workday for any inconsistencies.
