xAPI File Size Compression

Hello. Are there any tips for compressing file sizes once they are exported from Rise 360? I have a few courses that are up to 1.7GB once exported from Rise and taking up a significant amount of storage space on our devices and LMS. Is there a way to compress an xAPI file prior to uploading to it an LMS?

Any help/tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

  • Hello dsims,

That’s a great question! Rise 360 doesn’t currently offer built-in compression for exported xAPI files. File size is usually driven by large media assets, so the best way to reduce it is to compress images and videos before uploading them to Rise. You can use available tools to reduce file sizes without losing much quality.

Another option is to embed videos from a streaming service instead of uploading them directly. That way, your exported course stays smaller since the videos aren’t part of the package.

I’d love to hear what’s worked for other community members managing large Rise files.
