How to keep interactions from being downloaded and shared

Feb 03, 2012

hello,

I plan to add interactions on a secure area of my website, where paying users must login.

Users can then access the interactions, but I do not want them to have the ability to download and share them, just view them while logged in.

What is the solution?

Thanks

Welcome to Heroes, AC!

As David says in this older thread, "There really isn't a way to protect your files--if someone wants the files, they'll find a way to get them."

But I'd recommend taking a peek at that entire thread for some steps you can take to make it more difficult, as well as this one:

While there is no way to completely prevent downloads of content. There are some methods you can use to deter all but the most determined leeches. Here's one method that requires some advanced skills to implement:

You may also want to prevent the right-click menu from operating.

If you have a Flash developer at your disposal, you could apply a slide stopper that checked the launch location and stopped progression if launched from another location. The method above paired with this method should deter most folks. No perfect way to prevent download (aside from not posting it)
