Inserting template gets stuck every time?
Jan 03, 2020
I have a course where i have created block templates for reuse throughout the course. This worked one or two times, but now when I chose to add a block and pick my template from the block library, it inserts a "inserting template" section into the course and never finishes.
Funny thing is, I can preview the course and the content shows up. I can go and edit other pages and then come back to this page and sure enough, it's still "inserting template". Block templates don't work for me. What can I do?

This issue is happening to me today. I get the Inserting Template message and I am unable to Cancel it or remove it from my course.
Heather, see my post on the previous page. Until they fix this, we can remove stuck templates by deleting them just like any other content block. The delete button is actually there, it's just invisible. Move your mouse to the very top right of the block (where the delete button normally is) and click to delete.
This is still happening for us. any update?
Hi folks - we have a new development. Are you double-clicking to add your block templates? Adding block templates to a lesson only requires a single click. We've seen that double-clicking on the template may be trying to insert 2 of that template, and causes the interminable loading.
Let me know what you think!
Double-clicking does seem to replicate the issue.
Always use only a single click.
I have same problem...
We tried adding a simple continue block and this happened, now we're stuck on the loading template screen and can't cancel to remove it from our Rise content. Any troubleshooting steps for removing the loading block?
Worked for me too Pete! Thanks for that great tip.
Hey Gaston, I used the tip from Pete Theodore to resolve. We're good to go now.
Same issue here. What to do?

Thanks so much for this info!
Can confirm that the issue is also happening with a single click.
Same thing happening for me when I'm adding a block, just a Heading and a list, I've tried cancelling, refreshing, closing down Rise but it's still buffering
Hi Sandra,
As discovered by Pete Theodore, the delete button is still there but it's not visible for some reason.
As shown in the image below, when the block insert fails, move the cursor to the top-right corner of the block. When the cursor changes to the hand icon, click and it will delete the block.
I'm not able to cancel the insertion, I have 2 instances of this going on, and I can't recall at this point what block template I was even attempting to use. There is an error message appearing in my published version of the course. I have a ticket in - this has to get resolved.
It is still a reoccurring bug. Tried different browsers, different modes, cleared caches, used different computers even. Same glitch. Had to save a large section I had built as a block template and recreate it.
Sure slows down productivity.
This happened to me a few times yesterday, the cancel button no longer works and I have a few lessons with this still stuck in them, thankfully it doesn't affect the published output.
Thanks Karl that has helped
I'm having the same issue. It' s been like this for two days now, and when I export the SCORM file, it shows up like this:
I've tried everything - duplicating the course, logging out and in again, other browsers... and the problem keeps appearing. Any advice? thank you!
Having the same issue here. The cancel function, visible or invisible, doesn't work anymore, The block is stuck on "Inserting template." Hopefully this can be fixed soon.
Happens to me all the time, too.
this is happening for me - I am NOT able to delete the block and retry it, have tried all solutions mentioned above
Hi Amy,
This method (link below) does work, I just tried a few minutes ago. Move the cursor to the top right corner of the stuck block, and move the mouse slightly until it changes to the hand cursor. Then click to delete.
