Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to:

  • Share a link to your e-learning portfolio
  • Tell us your favorite portfolio design tip

Whether you're hosting your work on a website, your E-Learning Heroes profile, or any social site, we want to see your work.

If you're just getting started or don't yet have any work to show, you can still participate in the challenge. We want to see your work and help you get started! Here's what you can do. 

First, create a portfolio with placeholders or screenshots of the types of projects you hope to design for clients. Next, find a hosting solution for your portfolio. If you have questions or need assistance, let us know in the forums, and we'll be happy to help.

Here is my Portfolio for the E-Learning Challenge: https://www.shannonkellerportfolio.com/ This was my first attempt at creating a portfolio. It served me well in getting a new job after Covid in Instructional Design. My tip would be to try creating a website for your portfolio. With programs like Wix.com, it is a user friendly way to have freedom in your design. There is always more to learn on every front in instructional design, design as a whole, etc. Any suggestions on how to improve this are welcome.

Hello, everyone. My name is Fe'Dricka Moore; I also use the moniker "Moore II Learn". This is my current portfolio link - http://www.moore2learnid.com My portfolio is still a work in progress. I used Wix to build it. Some portfolio tips I would suggest include adding some variety in your assets with tools, topics (unless you have found your niche), and multiple pieces like a storyboard, video, infographic, etc for one asset; checking for all working links; taking some risks in designing and organizing your content in your portfolio; and requesting peer-reviewed feedback before publishing. MY CV (includes Portfolio) http://www.amnvohra.com/projects/my_cv/index.html Tip 1: Adding Interactive samples in your portfolio is always better than having static screenshots of your work. Tip 2: Add a short description about the projects you showcase in your portfolio so that the users can have a brief understanding about what to expect when they test them. (I provided the links to LinkedIn articles in most places so that users could read about the project before testing it.) Tip 3: Divide your projects into different categories, so that the users can easily find what they are looking for. Just For Fun! Tip 4: Always ask for recommendations, Recommendation section of my CV looks a bit empty.. :D Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ... Expand

Hi there! I am completely new to this and planning to do a Masters this September. However I have been learning Articulate Storyline 360 and I love it! Over the years I've just kept adding to it, and now it's a fully-featured site with service offerings and even an instant cost estimator. https://digitallearning.studio/quotes/ So, if you're unsure where to start, my advice is to grab a few of your best pieces of work, lock up a domain, and just get them on there. It WILL evolve over time. "Perfection is the Enemy of Progress."

At the end of each gallery there is an access to a "storyline". Personally, I always seek to personalize the courses with entertaining images, creative concepts and good scripts made by the instructional designers and people who work in the company. Tip # 1: Look for new solutions and let's not continue replicating the courses as templates. If possible, look for the original if there are resources and time. Hey folks! Thanks for making this one of our best challenges! I liked my idea (good job, me!) of asking for your portfolio tips. Admittedly, I didn't have a plan for how I'd handle the tips when I asked, but I think the recap turned out even better than it would have with only screenshots and links. My portfolio: https://belagaytan.com I've just started to learn Storyline in the past month or so. As such, my portfolio currently just has 2 projects created in Storyline. The remainder is projects created during my M.Ed. in Learning and Technology. Portfolio tips: 1. Have a clean design (not just here but throughout your website). 2. Provide details on the projects, such as tools used, your audience, and a brief write-up. 3. If you don't have projects created as a result of employment or freelancing (which I don't) - create something you enjoy! I've found this site, as well as Devlin Peck's live sessions a huge source of inspiration and ideas.

Though I have a website, I prefer to share this one which I developed in Articulate Rise to showcase my skills: https://rise.articulate.com/share/KT7Ie9pLU92rA80WltoRH3L8WPaeOzCX#/ (Thanks to Jonathan Hill for the great idea) Tip: As many of us have highlighted, the best way to build portfolio and learn Articulate is by participating in E-learning challenges. Also, most of the great examples come with the source file. We can learn by looking through the file and trying to create something similar. Well, I learnt it that way :-)

I would love to contribute to the challenge! My portfolio is found on my website: https://www.robbiechristian.com. Tips: 1) Be very thorough about your quality assurance and quality control. 2) Quality over quantity. You may have a hundred courses or samples, but only put up a few that will showcase a variety of skills and make you look good. 3) Don't post on Articulate Review with the ability for others to comment and see other comments. By the time something is on your portfolio page, the feedback cycles should be over. 4) Your portfolio doesn't need to be full of extensive courses, just really high quality samples.

I heard from one user that they received a notice from their hosting company regarding increased traffic. Keep an eye on your web stats and make sure you have adequate bandwidth to handle the new traffic:-)

Hey everyone! I'm excited to share my portfolio with you all. I wanted to give you a little insight into my journey. Initially, I set out to create a website and working with WordPress and diving into themes was totally different journey. I was determined to start off on a professional note, and although it was a learning curve, I've gained a ton of knowledge along the way.
