Engage is more about creating interactions - you're best off checking out the demo or some tutorials to see what's possible there. Plenty of PPT animations work in the finished publication - there's a list somewhere on this site. Most of what I would call the better ones do translate across, e.g. fade, zoom, wipe, fly in, etc.
We normally record and edit audio using other tools and then import into PPT/Articulate. Not sure if you can record direct. Maybe you can - I'm just not in front of it right now to check.
Yes, QM allows learners to review their answers. IMO QM is one of the more powerful components of Studio because it is so customisable.
For the most part, you DO use the PPT animations. Other than the supported ones, the only other thing that you might need to use outside of PPT functions would be the Annotations.

To add to Simon's post, yes you can record direct within Articulate. No, you shouldn't add it using the normal PPT way.
As far as animations, here is the list of Supported Animations

Welcome to Heroes, Les!
Did Simon and Robert answer all your questions? Will you be using only Engage and Quizmaker?

Thank you very much for the quick response.
As usual, when I got this project on Friday, it was already a month behind.
Typical, right?
I really appreciate the help.
