What version of Engage are you using? Also, it sounds like you've added this interaction inside a larger presentation - was that created in Presenter or Storyline?
Knowing a bit more about your course setup will help us point you in the right direction!
Is the Engage Interaction the last slide in your presentation?
Is the Next button also used to navigate through each step of the Engage interaction? If so, you wouldn't want to remove the Next button because then you couldn't view each step of the interaction.
It is on the last slide of the presentation but I've been advised that having it there is causing issues when it's uploaded to our LMS system. There's only 3 steps on the last slide so I was hoping that users could click on each step to view but just have a Prev button so they could review previous slides and if not just click exit at the top.
Thanks for those additional details! You can either keep both the Previous and Next buttons, or remove them both. There isn't away to remove the Next button but keep the Previous button.
If the Player Menu is enabled, you could remove both the Previous and the Next buttons. If the learner wants to go back to a previous slide, they could click the Menu. Here's a quick demonstration of what that would look like.

How do you remove them if you don't want them on the player? Is there a setting somewhere?
Hi Julie!
Yes, there is a setting to remove the navigation buttons! Here's a quick look at changing that setting in Engage 360:
How do I remove the Next button on the last slide in Storyline 360 please?
