This is a very basic question probably but here goes!
I have been using articulate for a university project and have found it very user friendly and it looks great! However, I have added photos to some of the engage slides and they have come out sideways, regardless of what orientation the original photo file is in. What can I do? Help!
Sorry to hear about the trouble. Are the files local files? Make sure that you're not working with any external content on a network drive, USB drive, etc.
Here's more information on that:
If you are experiencing unexpected issues using Articulate software, here are some tips for managing your files which can help prevent issues.
1. Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
3. Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa365247(VS.85).aspx
If you've confirmed all of your files are local, can you provide a screenshot of how the images are showing up or "turning"?
the few pictures I were having a problem with were on a USB stick (as were some of the others that moved fine), so I tried copying onto computer and changing their file names but it has made no difference unfortunately. I have hopefully attached screen captures of me trying to upload it, the picture being upright in my photos folder and then turning route in the engage mode.
I have just changed to a window 8 laptop which I have no idea yet how to use so I might be doing something stupid (all the rest of the photos were added on my old windows 7 laptop with no problems).
Thanks very much for the screenshot. So, the "normal" position would be to have the bulb hanging down, correct? Can you share the image file here, so I can try inserting it into an interaction?
No worries - just started using Windows 8 here not too long ago, myself. It does take some adjustment, but I'm enjoying it so far
I am not enjoying it so much! Doesn't seem very intuitive to me! Can't work out where to find applications or anything! I am sure I will get there eventually!
Yes, the bulb is meant to be hanging down. I have attached the original image for you to play with.
That is really strange. I previewed the file through the forums and the image was on its side. However, I saved the file and opened it in Paint and the image displays correctly.
Lets see if it will post:
Looks good there...
I copied the image and pasted it into a new file. See if you can get the one attached to work.
I did notice that the image is very large. Maybe resizing it a little before inserting it would help?
I just opened up Paint, selected the image and cut it out of the file. Opened a new file and pasted the image and saved it as a new file, with a new name.
If you'd like, you can attach the other two images and I can do the same to those

Thanks Christine,

Wait! I have just clicked on my file after uploading it and it is sideways! So why when I open it to view it is it the right way up?!
Help!

Yay that worked! You are a genius! What did you do to it? I have 2 similar photos..... unless I send them to you as well for your magic touch!
Anne
Awesome, glad to hear it!

Yay! I opened the others in paint and resaved them and they are now working as well! Thank you so much for your help!
Anne
You're quick! Nice job!
Not sure why they would've done that in the first place, but very happy to hear they're not "flipping" out anymore!
Hope you have an awesome day, Anne!
Christine
You too!
