Search function in the Engage Glossary interaction

Jan 18, 2019

Haven't been able to locate a search function in the Engage (Studio 360) Glossary interaction. Am I missing the setting or does it just not exist?

Thanks!

Hi Marty,

There isn't a search function in the glossary interaction. Learners can click on the various letters to be brought into that section of the glossary and see the associated terms and definitions.

We would love to hear more about what you would like to see regarding this ability if you're up for logging a feature request!

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your reply and the information about the glossary interaction. Per your advice I have logged a feature request.

We are looking to build a large glossary containing several hundred medical and health care related terms. Once it gets that large, it is not always easy to find the term the learner needs. A simple search function of the glossary entries would reduce the number of clicks, scrolling and reading (list for each letter could easily have over 50 entries).

Thanks very much,

Marty

Great question, Jack!

Here's one way you can link an Engage 360 glossary to a "Glossary" player tab.

  • Import the Engage 360 glossary into the Storyline 360 project. Do not link this slide to any other slide in the project
  • Add a custom tab to the player called "Glossary". Do not use the built-in Glossary tab.
  • When the trigger wizard appears, set the action to lightbox the Engage 360 Glossary slide.
  • Click OK

Give it a go, and let me know if that's what you had in mind!
