Allowing additional comments

Jun 16, 2014

When inserting "Pick One" or "Pick Many" Survey questions with Quizmaker 13 is there a way to allow the user to add additional comments (see example below)? Or can this be accomplished some other way?

Hi Rodney!

You can certainly add the additional text fields through Slide View, but you won't be able to report on those text entries if they're within another question type.

Curious, have you had the opportunity to check out Storyline? You could build something like this pretty quickly in Storyline, then report the variables that Storyline generates to an LMS for your review. Storyline is available for a 30 day free trial, if you're interested in testing it out to see if it would work for this type of project.

Best of luck with the project!

Hi Rodney,

Certainly! :)

There isn't a specific tutorial focused on accomplishing this particular type of project, but there are a few that might help bring all of this together.

First, if you haven't already, I'd recommend the following tutorials for getting started:

Build Quizzes and Result Slides - E-Learning Heroes

Adding Graded Questions and Survey Questions - E-Learning Heroes

Adding Data Entry Fields - E-Learning Heroes

Articulate Support - How to evaluate multiple fill-in-the-blanks on the same slide

Once you've checked out the tutorials above, I'd recommend reviewing these to help with the additional fields you'd like to use:

Working with Variables - E-Learning Heroes

Articulate Support - Reporting Storyline variables to an LMS

Now, keep in mind that there are different question types for quizzes and surveys. Even though you want to provide surveys, you could still use a quiz question (if you prefer the question type), but don't score or display the score to the learner. You could then use the variable method above to send the details entered by the user to your LMS, for your review.

I hope this helps!

Christine
