Branching based off of quiz or survey as a whole?

Mar 18, 2013

Hi there Articulate Gurus!
I was hoping to get some advice. I'm trying to find out if this type of scenario is possible in Articulate Quizmaker:
1. User enters either a quiz or survey (a survey is preferable since there won't be "right" or "wrong" answers, but I might be able to swing a quiz).
2. User is presented with 3 questions that are weighted:
a's = 10
b's = 20
c's = 30
3. User answers the group of questions and then depending on their answers or "score" they are branched to a different scenario. For example, the breakdown could be:
Points
30 - 49 -- scenario A
50 - 69 -- scenario B
70 - 90 -- scenario C
So, if a user answers the three questions with all "C" answers (90 points), they would follow the Scenario C path.
(**A side note is that I would like the user's answers to be recorded/delivered to the LMS).
Just as some further context, this survey is to collect information to see if a user is:
good at something
okay at something
very good at something
So, if they are good at something they will go to slide 40
if they are okay at something they will go to slide 50
if they are really good at something they will go to slide 60
---------------
I've been looking around and can't really find a solution for this yet. I found this page:
http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/assigning-point-values-to-graded-questions.aspx
Which talks about assigning point values to graded questions, which seems very interesting, but I wasn't sure that there was any way to then tie this into branching.
I'm open to thinking outside of the box, but I'm also wondering if I will just need to build a flash module for this sort of control.
I do appreciate any thoughts!!!

It seems to me that you can do this if you have 2 sets of questions.  Throwing in the third becomes challenging.

You can branch a quiz based on Passing or Failing so if you set the quiz at 50% pass then those less then go in one direction (A) and those great than go in another (B).  From there you could have (A)  Branch to A1 and A2, and (B) could branch to B1 and B2.

Throwing in a third (C) into Quizmaker seems too far to work out.

That being said you could do it in Storyline no problem.  Studio will take a bit more branching to get the desired result.

The attached file doesn't solve the problem, but it may lead to further inspiration.  I need to find where I got this and give it proper credit afterwards.

Thanks so much for your thoughts Tracy and the attachment. I had brainstormed about using a pass/fail quiz to simulate this idea, as you suggest, but I am thinking that the client I'm working with will want to go with three answer options instead of two! That is really good to know about Storyline though. I may have to revist it as an alternative, and I am open to the idea.

Again, I really appreciate your time!!
