Course Reporting Interaction Code

Hi All, 

In the configuration.js file the following code can be found: 

var DO_NOT_REPORT_INTERACTIONS = false

It's possible to change "false" to "true" so that interactions are not reported.  What exactly are "interactions"?  And why would someone NOT ("true") want to have them reported to the LMS?
