Dragging and dropping items on a single image

Mar 25, 2015

I'm trying to create a drag-and-drop question in Studio 13, where the learners drag shapes (text boxes) onto various spots on a single image. There doesn't seem to be any way to create drop zones, so the only solution I see is to create small copies of the areas I want them to drag to--is there an easier way to create drop zones?

Hi Deb!

I was providing an example that would hopefully be able to assist you.

I do want to mention that when creating, editing, and publishing Articulate Quizmaker '13 quizzes, be sure you're working on your local hard drive (typically your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources. See this article for more information.

Here is a tutorial on utilizing a free form drag and drop, which is what I did, to accomplish your request.

Thanks, I learned long ago to work from the local drive when trying to do anything on Articulate! Unfortunately, I already had that tutorial but it doesn't say how to create drop zones that aren't individual images. You mentioned something earlier about making transparent drop zones behind an image? I'm trying to imagine how that would work...

Hi Deb! I attached an example, not sure if you will be able to access that or not based on your previous post.

I simply placed the shape 'drop' targets where they needed to be based on the image that you want the user to see. Then made those same shapes transparent so the user cannot see the 'square' that is over the image.

Perhaps you can see my image here - I added an outline to the transparent shapes so that you could see where they are.
