Error message 'you must pass the quiz'

Sep 05, 2012

Hello folks

I have a glitch in a piece of elearning that I cannot figure out.

This module has three quizzes.

When the learner presses the Next button to move on to the second or third quiz, an error message appears

"Quiz Control

You must pass the quiz at slide 7 to advance"

Clicking on the ok button allows the learner to proceed to the quiz .... the learner isn't being prevented from moving forward.

I need to get rid of this message though and I can't figure out what is causing it to appear.

The first quiz, which is on slide 7 isn't anything particularly complicated in the way it is set up.

Am I missing something obvious?

This is due to go out for User testing soon, so I have to get this glich sorted out.

thanks in advance

Peb

Hi Peb,

Are you able to send us the project files so we can look into the settings, or see if there is something else going on? Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Thanks!

Hello Peter

Thank you so much for responding, but I can't send you my project files.  My organisation encrypts everything, so it is not viewable outside of our work computers - I can put it onto a memory stick for example - but not be able to open it on anything but my work laptop.

So........ I can't send it.

What sort of thing would you be checking out if you had seen my project files?

I am really loathe to have to recreate this piece of work - even though there are only a couple of dozen slides there are a lot of complicated motion path bits linked to audio that I don't fancy doing all over again unless I absolutely have to. Right now though its the only thing I can think to do!

Hi Peb,

Gotcha, thanks for explaining I think the key point of the issue, is that when pressing OK, it's not forcing a return to where it says it should. Thats sounds strange to me. If you'd like, you can simply open a support ticket with a link to this thread's url, and our support engineers can try to diagnose what might be happening with this information and screenshot alone, rather than having to send in your files. Are you able to do that?

Peb Thomas

Yes I will try to do what you suggest......... though to be honest I really don't want it to force folk back to the earlier quiz, because they most definitely would have completed it in order to progress through the module anyway!

It is odd, as I have had this running smoothly for weeks, the only tweaks I have done have been minor - reaudioing - changing bits of text.  I did modify the first quiz, but only to make the look of a couple of the slides in that quiz look tidier - just moving stuff around the page nothing else.

Right....... off I go to try this support ticket thingeemabob

thank you for your help Peter

Hello to anyone who is reading this ..........

I got a response from the support team that sorted my problem out - so just in case you also have had this problem, this is what they told me to do....... and it worked.

"check the presentation’s Slide Properties. Make sure that “Branching” is correctly set for all slides. Next, proceed to delete and reinsert the quiz slides in your presentation. Then republish your presentation to verify the result. "

I had to retweak my branching after I had reinserted, but all is working smoothly now it has been republished.

Thanks for your help Phil and thanks also to the Mike Ang in Support.
