Essay question in Quizmaker

Jul 03, 2012

Hi.

I've set up an essay survey question in Quizmaker, and in preview, I'm getting a message that I need to scroll down to the bottom of the text box before hitting submit.  I've shortened the length of the text box, made sure the question is not mandatory, turned off the feedback, and in the options set the quiz to continue to the next slide when the submit button is selected.  I get the scroll message, even when I type something in the text box.  Any thoughts on how I can set this question up to simply submit, without scrolling?  FYI - I have other essay questions in this presentation, and I'm not getting the same message.  I've compared the settings, and they seem the same.

Many thanks,

Kathy

Hi there Kathy,

If you open your question in Quizmaker and then click Slide View, take a look to see if there's any object that happens to be extending beyond the bottom border of the slide. Quizmaker displays that message if there is any content that reaches past the bottom edge. If you select whatever object is overhanging and then click your up arrow until it's fully on the slide, the message should no longer appear when you preview or publish.

Alternatively, you could open your quiz in Quizmaker, click Player Templates > Edit > Navigation, and then unmark the box that says "Require user to scroll to bottom on longer questions."

Hope that helps!
