Unfortunately, you won't be able to extract the content into an XML file. However, one option that might work for you is exporting into Word. Take a look at this article for more information. Also, in Studio 13, you'll be able to import spreadsheets. We're very excited about this feature and I think it'll be an excellent way to translate content.
Whilst this would help with the text extraction for translation, it will still require a lot of copy/pasting to get the translated files back into their original format.
