Generating hard-copy quizes with Quizmaker

Sep 06, 2011

Hi All - I am fairly new to Articulate, and I looked online and in my training manual, but I can't seem to solve this Quizmaker issue (worse yet, I'm beginning to think it may not be possible)...

I have been tasked with creating a quiz bank for an instructor-led course. Creating the questions and making them function correctly has gone smoothly, but I am having problems creating the finished product of a hard-copy quiz for the students to take (without computer access).

The quiz needs to be printed and completed by the students on paper, since the students will not have access to computers during or after the course. I played around with publishing the quiz to Word, but even when I select “Questions Only,” it still prints the group heading, information about the type of questions, the number of points, as well as the whole slide and then the answers again, and it never gives the multiple choice answers their corresponding letters (i.e., A, B, C, and D).  Also, it seems to publish all the questions in a group, rather than a specific number of randomized questions, which is how I set up the quiz bank. And if I can ever get the quiz to print, I also need an answer key to print that corresponds with the questions selected in a given instance of the quiz (I haven’t even tried to research that one yet).

Does anyone know if there is any way to customize the information to be included when you publish to Word? Or is there a better way to get the results I am looking for that I haven’t found yet?

Thanks for your time, and any suggestions or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

Jill

Hi Brian -

Manipulating the Word document would accomlish what I need, but then there is no longer any reason to use the Articulate software. I might as well just use the original Word document and adjust it everytime my supervisor needs a version of the quiz.

The quiz bank I am working with has a total of 123 questions broken into 5 sections, with only 65 questions to be used on a given instance of the quiz.

We were hoping that Quizmaker would allow us to simply generate a new test with randomized questions, as it would in a PowerPoint based format, so that it could quickly and easily be printed and ready for use. If that is not possible, we are back to square one of using a large Word document and trying to be as random as possible when deleting and leaving questions for a given quiz.

I hope that clarifies my position better.

Thanks for your help with this!

Jill
