Hyperlink hover not aligned with hyperlink text

Apr 29, 2014

Hi there

I have an issue I haven't found a solution to. I have a number of quiz files in a presenter file (btw. I'm using Presenter, Engage and Quizmaker 09). On some of the quiz files, the first slide a s 'blank slide' question type, its purpose is to navigate the learner to a Sharepoint site to find details which I can then question the learner on.

I have inserted the hyperlinks which work fine and in preview mode they look fine. But once published to SCORM1.2, when the learner hovers over the hyperlink, the 'highlighted zone' is not aloigned with the actual hyperlink text.

Has anytone seen this and do you know a fix? I've attached an image to hsow you what I mean. In the attached photo, all of the text you can see is in a single text box. Do I need to make lots of text boxes so that the hyperlink can be centre aligned in its own text box? :(

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Karen!

You're not referring to the highlighted yellow text for "Application Development", but rather the text at the top for "Process Landscape", correct? That does look a bit off and I haven't seen this before.

First, can you tell me how you're viewing the published presentation, please? Are you viewing the published output files locally, or are you uploading to a web server or LMS?

If you're viewing your published files locally, this may be the problem. If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Tips for Managing Project Files

  • I suggest using SCORM Cloud for your course - it's a great place to test SCORM content.
  • Another option would be to use our Tempshare server. Just keep in mind that this server is only available for testing content - it is not officially supported by Articulate and all content will be removed automatically after 10 days.
  • You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

If you're uploading to a web server or LMS, please try clearing your browser cache. If that doesn't help, try viewing the project in a different web browser.

Let me know if you see any improvement.

Thanks!

Hi Christine, thanks for your reply.

I have actually resolved the issue by adding a small text box, containing only the hyperlink, on top of the larger text box (that contains text and the image in my screen shot).

In some of my quiz files, the issue was worse than the above screen shot, where the 'hover zone' didn't even over lap with the hyperlink text.

For information, the issue occurs whether I run the learning on the LMS or from a shared file server (not my local pc).

SCORM could looks interesting but I am not physically able to install software on my machine and would need to wait weeks for the approvals and to have it loaded to my profile! For the same reason I can't use a different browser, because the startndard desktop browser here is IE.

So, I managed to 'fix' it, but the fix is fiddly. I hope it works better in version 13 (which I will be installed shortly).

Kind regards, Karen

Hi Karen,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get this working :)

I just wanted to let you know that you won't need to install SCORM Cloud on your machine. It's a web-based server that's used for testing SCORM content. You can create a free account and upload your published content there for testing. It really does come in handy, especially if you run into an issue and you're not sure if the issue is with the content, or your primary LMS.

Since you've got this working for the moment, I wouldn't press it. However, it may be something to keep on hand for the future :)

Thanks again and have a great day!
