Placing a Cursor in a Numeric Entry Quiz Question

Hi Stacy,

You'll want to make sure you're using the latest update of Storyline 2 Update 7, as there was a fix for the data entry not having focus upon the start of the slide. You may also want to have your text entry box is at the bottom of the list on your timeline as that will force the focus there as well.

I downloaded the trial so I assume it is version 7, but I really don't know for sure.  I have the Numeric Entry box at the bottom of the timeline, but I still have to click in the box during the preview to be able to enter my value.  Do you happen to have any other suggestions?

Thanks Stacy for checking that - I do see another issue reported to our team in regards to numeric entry quiz questions, so I suspect it may be similar to what you're experiencing. Are you able to share the .story file here with us so that I could take a look at connect with the existing report filed with our QA team. 

Update: Stacy, I also see that this was a Quizmaker question (I assumed Storyline...I've been in a bit of a cold/sick fog! Sorry.)  The issue I mentioned was for Storyline - so I'm going to dig a bit more into Quizmaker. But if you'd like to share the .quiz file with us I can take a look at that as well.

I also am trying to get the box with a 2 in it on the directions slide to be "x"d out when the user goes back to that slide after completing the 2s test.  I tried to change the state, but it has not been working.  Do you have any suggestions for that issue too?

Hi Stacy,

Ah, so you are using Storyline not Quizmaker? Based on the way you've set the triggers for this, the trigger to change it to the selected state is not executing because it's appearing after the "jump to slide" trigger. If you place that trigger prior to the Jump to slide trigger it should work as expected, although the user may see the state change before the slide advances for a brief second. You'll also want to ensure you're using the slide properties of "resume saved state" so that the user can return to the slide and see the states as previously set.

Which slide(s) were you experiencing the difficulty with the numeric entry so that I could check into those as well? Also, I wanted to confirm that you may have removed content from other sections as I saw a number of scenes without any slides - so I wasn't sure if something else happened to the file that you needed me to look into or if you just removed the content to share here? 

I am still learning all of this so I apologize for sending the other scenes.  I didn't want to create too much then have to redo everything so those are still empty.  I just knew I would need them later.

I am working with the scene for factor 2 quiz.  When I preview, I can either hit TAB or use the mouse to click in the number entry box, but the cursor doesn't automatically appear.  I am planning on using whatever fix you might have for me on my other scenes.

Sorry I missed this on Friday, but I double checked your file again today and it seems to match the issue with our QA team in regards to the numeric entry quiz questions not having the focus set at the start of the slide. I haven't seen a workaround to change that behavior yet, but I'll include this thread in the report filed with our team so that I can update you here once there is additional information to share.
