Questionnaire with differing points
Aug 20, 2015
Hi All,
New to this game but learning fast although haven't found anything related to my issue within this community - as yet.
I have several statements and asking the delegate to choose one of 5 options for each and of course each option should have a score attached ranging from 1 to 5 points. I have 5 statements per page and will want three pages so a score should range from 5 to 25 per page but ultimately 15 to 75 for the activity. I tried choosing Pick Many but as I'll have 5 selections per page but I don't know how to configure/attach the relevant points to each selection as I can only see Correct or Incorrect and neither is suitable as it is opinion based with no model answer. Ultimately, there will be feedback, e.g., 15-39 - you are x, 40-59 you are y, 60-75 you are z. All triggers have been applied so that only one selection is made per statement before submitting but how do I apply the points. Any assistance, preferrably with examples as I'm a visual learner, will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Billy!
Some question types will allow you to score By Choice:
You can check it out in this tutorial.
You can also customize your results slide as explained here.
Many thanks Leslie,
I think my error was that I had more than one question on the slide so I, in error, picked many rather than picked one. The former doesn’t allow you to score by choice and did't even show it as a greyed out option so couldn't see where I would even access the functionality.
No worries Billy! Glad I was able to assist.
Hi Leslie - could you assist further with a similar issue (different project) I have?
I have 12 shapes each with a 'selected' state that can be deselected. 8 of them are correct with each correct selection attracting 1 point. I have 8 layers which show the correct total score however, I think my variables need tweaked to be bit more accurate. I.E., I had written a variable to add 1.00 to 'total score' if state is selected at the point of clicking next but not working as I hoped. For exampe, let's say I get 7 out of 8 on first attempt. If I then deselect a correct answer and select the 8th correct answer, I should still really only have 7 correct but my score is 8 so the fact that the state returns to normal the deselection of a correct answer is not reducing the score.
By the way, I am not using any freeform on this,, all 'coding' is manual so to speak. Slide 1.5 on attached.
Hi Billy!
You could Subtract 1 from the Total Score when the State of the shape is 'Normal', meaning the user de-selected, correct?
Thanks. Thought about that but it effectively means that when submitting
answers by clicking next it means that un-selected answers that should
be selected are being scored as minus1? If you make 8 selections but
only 6 are correct, leaving 2 correct answers unselected and 2 incorrect
selections, the score would logically be 4?
I've since hived the appropriate slide into another document and changed
it all to drag and drop because I have a deadline looming. However,
when time allows, I might approach it from a different angle and use the
minus 1 score for normal state but start the variable off as having a
positive 8 default value. But I'm not sure that will work either.
Watch this space.
Hi Billy! You could set the variable to 0 when the slide starts, so the value should not change unless selected/unselected.
