Quiz feedback not displaying randomly
Sep 19, 2016
Hey guys,
I am currently busy creating a simple 10 question, "select one" graded quiz and I am having some issues with the question feedback layers. They are supposed to appear after clicking Submit to let the user know whether or not they have selected the correct or incorrect option. Unfortunately this is not always happening. The feedback options are appearing on some pages and on others not. This is happening randomly as when I replay the scene, it will appear on a slide that it previously did not and not appear on a slide that it did. I think it might have something to do with the custom submit button that I had created as it only started doing it once I introduced the button. The feedback layers seem to appear when I use the built-in submit button in the player, but it doesn't work properly with a custom button. I have checked the button and all of the buttons have the correct variable assigned to them.
Could it also maybe have something to do with the edited master feedback that I had created?
Has anyone run into this issue before? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Thabit!
Would you be able to share your .quiz file for us to take a look?
Hi Leslie,
Please find the assessment file attached. Any assistance you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Thabit
Hi Thabit!
Thanks for sharing your .story file for me to take a look. Was this file created from scratch or from a template/master? I cannot select the 'submit' button that you have defined. Seems to be some inconsistency with that setup. If I click 'submit' the questions work as intended, but the button is not working as a whole as it looks like you intended with Submit/next arrow being the same 'button'.
I imported into a new file and all of this formatting is lost, so I'm not sure where it originated.
If the course is working as you intend otherwise, I would advise creating a new submit button.
Hi Leslie,
The file was created from scratch. I edited the feedback master to have the look and feel suit that of the original course. Thank you for your advice on the button situation. I will test it out and post the results a bit later.
Kind regards,
Thabit
Yes, please let me know. I could have overlooked of course.
Hi Leslie,
So i've fixed the issue. Something you said made me think and indeed it was that. The submit was created using the next button and the hotspot still contained the variable to say that it should go to the next slide. I think it has got to do with how i initially created the button. I had initially put a next action on the hotspot and then created the button, using that same hotspot as the initial state of the button but forgetting to remove the variable. Yes, that was a very noob mistake on my part. Thank you for your help in guiding me to the solution.
Kind regards,
Thabit
Ah, very good Thabit. Glad you were able to get that sorted. Sometimes it just takes some talking/thinking out loud :)
