Quizmaker 13 no more "send email" button, what now?

Oct 06, 2013

I'm a new user to Quizmaker and did lots of search on this topic. It seems to me that back in Quizmaker 09, some people used modified javascript and PHP/ASP.net to capture quiz results in a database/.txt file via the "send email? button. Since Quizmaker 13 no longer has the send email button available, can this still be done?

I understand Articulate products are LMS oriented, but LMS is out of the question for me because my requirements are very unique:

I need to use Quizmaker to create a survey to be embedded into my eBay listing as a flash object. Flash is the only possible dynamic addon that eBay allows.

So basically what I need is a .swf survey to be embedded, and when a user clicks some finish/send button, the result is to be parsed to a PHP or ASP.net script then processed. I cannot have any HTML wrapper or .JS on the listing-ebay does not allow those.

I just want to know is what I wanted technically possible? Even if it cannot be done out of the box, as long as it can be done by modifying some files, I'm okay with hiring some free lancer guy for the job. But if it's fundamentally impossible (requires modification of the core program), then I'm pretty much out of luck here.

Your advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

Hi Tim!

We want every feature in our software to work well. Unfortunately, there’s no way to email results easily, accurately, and consistently. For example, if you use Gmail or your computer’s security settings are high, you can’t email results. Also, you run the risk of learners tampering with results since they can access the email before it’s sent. Given these limitations, we decided not to include the email results feature in our products anymore.

Perhaps someone in the community will be able to help you

Thanks - working behind a firewall within the company intranet structure it was surprisingly stable - plus we were able to pull the userid from the web page session and link to Peoplesoft org structure, so there was lots of information we could glean from the survey without placing 10 or 15 demographic questions in the survey itself.  Understand your team has to make careful decisions on what's best for the larger audience.  Thanks for your help!

I have used the "save to database" with php files and modifying the .js file for many years with Quizmaker 09 with little to no problem but based on Leslie reply the feature to save email results no longer exists in Quizmaker 13 - REALLY! If the feature did not work properly you would think you would try to either fix it or at least let it go forward into 13 with the disclaimer that it did not always work. That way I could upgrade to 13 to address another problem with the send email button not working when using IE 11!! I guess I am caught in between a rock and a hard place, either I loose the button or I have to forced any IE 11 user to add my website to the compatibility list in IE.

Has anyone found a work around for either of these issues?

Thanks

Jerry

Hi,

This is one feature where Articulate's approach is less than stellar. Emailing quiz results CAN be done--I've seen other eLearning software handle this gracefully. But for some reason, Articulate refuses to invest the resources to make this work correctly.

I love Articulate, but in this instance, they're being lazy by not figuring this out.

Cheers,

Brian
