Quizmaker skips questions while taking Quiz

Oct 31, 2011

I'm having difficulty getting the quiz to work properly.  When taking the quiz you will unexpectedly skip to different questions than expected.  For example, you might be answering question 7 and hit next and end up on question 38, or even question 6 again.  The questions are set to be a random ordering of 60 questions.

This seems to happen most commonly on slides that have branches, but occasionally does happen on slides that do not have branches as well.  The ones that branch are set to branch to an explanation of the problem whether or not the question is answered correctly or incorrectly.

We have previously heard that running other programs such as antivirus programs while outputting the quiz could possibly mess up the results.  We have tried closing all programs/processes possible and even went as far as disabling networking while outputting the quiz.  Nevertheless, skipping still occurs.

This only seems to happen when the quiz utilizes branching.  We have another quiz composed of the same questions which are NOT branched.  This one works fine.  However, we would love to use branching, and are therefore stuck.

I have uploaded a copy of the quiz which skips.  Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Joe,

If you have branched slides in your quizmaker try these fixes:

-Ensure that all branched slides are anchored to the question they are coupled with.  For instance, if Question 21 branches off to another slide (in my case they were blank slides for explanations) after being completed, make sure that the branch slide follows it right afterward in the quizmaker and is anchored with Question 21.

-If you have your questions set to randomize, anchor the very last question to the bottom of the quiz, and it should keep the player from skipping questions and/or ending the quiz early.

Hope this helps, these are the fixes the Articulate Team provided me with and they worked for me.
