Selected State Glow
Apr 21, 2014
Hello all,
While using a pick one freeform question Quizmaker I'm trying to make the selected state glow really pop. I know I can edit the theme colors to change the color of the glow selections, however I'm more or less looking to adjusting the brightness of the glow and perhaps the size of the glow as well.
Am I just missing something or is there not a way to change the features of the glow when a user has selected an answer in free form?
Thank you!

Hi Alaric,
The only glow option is the color selection. However, you're not limited to the default colors. For example, if you wanted to use a neon green instead of a flat green, you'd just need to find the hex code for it.
When you're editing the colors for your interaction, there's an additional option at the bottom of the list for "More Colors...". Here you can either choose a custom color from the mixer, or you can provide a hex code for a color you'd like to use.
For example, a really bright neon green would be #1DF904.
In the meantime, if you'd like to see some additional options, I'd recommend sharing a suggestion with our product development team.
Best of luck on the project!
HI Christine,
I have the same prolbem as Alaric, but can't seem to make your solution above work! I have added the new colours via 'New Colours' in the Player, but they don't appear in my options for selected state. Any ideas?
Cheers!
Ok sorry, have managed to get the colour green you mention above to work, but it isnt very bright! It seems quite transparent...not really 'popping'....
Hi Rebecca! Glad you were able to figure this out. As you can see, there are not many things we can change as it relates to the glow feature, and I do think it's intended as a subtle accent.
Thanks Leslie. Though I haven't really figured it out! My client still
wants the glow to really pop, and no matter what I do I cant seem to make
it do that, even with the colour change. On my screen all seems to look ok
but on their computers the colours are very weak. I will keep experimenting
but if you have any (bright!) ideas than much apprecitaed!
Cheers
Rebecca
Hi Rebecca!
The only other thing is to make sure that you are using the 24px glow.
Form View > Selected State > Accent color x, 24px glow
That will make the glow area larger as well.
Perhaps others in the community have some suggestions for you :)
I was just playing with this and figured out why my "glow" was never very bright. Seems it has to do with the fill of the objects. In my pick many questions I typically had a larger background image and then was hoping to add select shapes on top. So I need to give them no fill, so the background image would shine through.
Seems I'll have to rebuild the larger image piece by piece so that the selectable areas can each be their own shape with a fill color and then a glow when selected.
Thanks for popping in to share Jennifer. I cannot say that I have much experience either, but hopefully this could help someone in the future that runs across this post.
