Tracking incorrect answers to branch to fail result slide

Oct 16, 2013

Hello,

I am setting up a quiz with each wrong answer shows a different incorrect result slide, and when three wrong answers are the submitted, the user is branched to the end of the quiz with a fail results slide. the quiz has a total of 20 questions, and if answered correctly, the user could finish and pass the quiz. How can I set this up?

Hi Holly and welcome to Heroes!

I'm not sure if you're using Quizmaker 09 or 13 - so I'll offer suggestions for both.

In terms of providing feedback by choice, this option is only available for some question types, such as Multiple Choice, Word Bank, Pick One, Which Word, Freeform Pick One, and Freeform Hotspot.

For Quizmaker 13, this tutorial walks you through how to set up branching, and you'll be able to follow this portion for the "Incorrect" answers:

On the Feedback window that appears, use the Branching drop-down to specify what should happen when learners advance past the current slide. Choose one of the following:

  • Next Slide: This jumps to the next slide in the quiz.
  • Previous Slide: This jumps back to the slide you just viewed. (It may not be the slide that comes sequentially before the current slide.)
  • Finish Quiz: This jumps to the result slide.

Within Quizmaker 09 you'll want to follow this article on setting up branching, and I'd recommend to keep all the questions in a particular order, so that on the third question you can set the branching as follows  for the incorrect answers and select the Finish Quiz setting.

  1. Configure Branching, as desired, by using the Branch to the following slide drop-down menu. By default, the user will progress to the next question or slide after answering a question. Instead of the next question or slide, you can specify which question or slide a user will go to after a correct or incorrect answer to a question (or after any response to a survey question). Options include the following:
    • Next question (-&gt (default)
    • Finish Quiz (->|)
    • Specific question
