Using audio AND randomizing the answer options

Jun 02, 2012

The audio tutorial only shows how to record or import the audio – I recorded just fine, but the audio did not work for randomized questions… I'm not worried about randomizing the question order.  I am concerned about randomizing the answer options.  If you record the slide as “How many widgits does it take to make a whozit?  3, 6, 8, 10”, the audio can only read back what was recorded… the sound clip can’t adjust if the answers are presented in a different order (though  that would be magical).  This negates the possibility of using audio and randomizing your answer options - which is quite useful.

I tried to add several individual clips on the slide view – I selected the question text box then recorded that audio, then I recorded one sound for each answer, but when you “play” the slide, all the sounds play at the same time… all garbled as you can imagine.  I am now searching for some way to associate each sound with it’s text box so each answer sound will play in any order, as they appear on the slide.  Having audio is nice… maybe even more important than randomizing answers, but I’m always searching for the ultimate experience – is what I am seeking possible?

Any tips ou there for making this happen are most appreciated.

Hi Carol! In Quizmaker, while it's possible to add multiple audio tracks to a single slide, there isn't a feature which allows you to shuffle the order in which the audio tracks play. So in your example, if your audio reads the choices for 3, 6, 8, and 10, unfortunately it's not possible to make the audio read the answers in a different order to match the order of the shuffled answer choices.

What you describe would make a great feature request!
