2 interactions on a slide

Nov 06, 2013

Does anyone know of a way to get 2 interactions on a page?  I am working on some new reporting features using the Tin Can API but I need s separate interaction after a question is answered. Any thoughts?

Thanks Ashley.  The example helped but I am stuck at this one point.  the second question that comes up is an either or type question.  Basically after they answer the first question they get the second set which basically is asking them how confident are they in their answer.  The thing is, there is not right answer to the last part.  If they answer I am sure, I am partially sure they still get credit for answering it correctly.  So with a freeform pick many, I have the correct answer selected but if I select both sure and partially sire for the second part, they have to select both to get credit.  Do you see any way around this?

Hi Randy,

Could you share the .story file you're working on, or at least that slide? I'm trying to follow your set up, but it would be easier if I could see it. If you can't post it in the forums, you could also send it along to me here.

I'm curious, if the second question is not credit receiving, more just a personal reflection before they move on, could you just insert it as a set of buttons at the bottom of the slide, or on a layer that they check off and then can submit? I made a very basic example...

Ok, I uploaded the file I am working on. It is just a test of the concept before I receive content tomorrow. The problem with doing it the way you mentioned is that I need to track what they pressed within an lms.  I was hoping to use Tin Can and pull custom reports to see how confident users were in the answers they selected which entails them selecting an answer as well as selecting a confidence level.  If they select I am sure or I am partially sure they receive the credit for the question.  Right now I am seeing all the experiences within a tin can lms report but I am not seeing the confidence selection.  Storyline is not passing over the interactions.

Hi Randy,

Thanks for sending along your file. Right now the way it's set up, the I am sure and I am partially sure are included as a part of the main pick many question, and therefore you'd have to select both of them in addition to the answer (Olds) to receive a correct score, even though you'll go to the "Correct" layer.

You may want to look at this example by Nicole on using a multiple freeform, and you'll see how she adds points to the total score. Since Storyline doesn't typically report the value of variables to an LMS, you could then look into this method on how to send those to your LMS
