Ability to use "global" slide layers that can be used on any slide - Product request

Oct 11, 2019

Hi there,

I suspect this isn't available currently, but if there's a work-around please let me know. My life would be sooo much easier if there was an option to create "global" layers that could be used on any slide. I find myself copying and pasting layers from one slide to another all the time... but if I need to make a change to that layer, I then have to make the change to all the slides that use a similar layer (or have to re-copy and paste the edited layer to other slides, and then re-produce any slide-specific triggers to that layer).

That said, I'd like to make a product request: I would like to see the ability to define certain slide layers as "global" layers, and then be able to add those layers to other slides. This way, when the layer is edited from one slide, it's edited on all slides it's on.

Thanks so much!

You can create slide layers in the master view and trigger them based on a variable change:

  1. Add a control variable to your file.
  2. Go to slide master and add your layers.
  3. On the base layer of the slide master, add the triggers for each layer to show them when your control variable changes if the control variable has the right value. (For example, layer 1 if the control = 1, layer 2 if the control = 2, etc.)
  4. On your slides, be sure they are using the slide template with the layers. To trigger viewing the layer, you change your control variable.

...and just like that, you've created global slide layers.
