Accessibility Screenreader reading slide name

Nov 24, 2022

Hi,

Testing accessibility with NVDA is throwing all strange things.

It reads the slide name such "1.1 slide 1 blank blank" (No idea where blank blank comes from)

Any way to stop the screen-reader from reading the slide name?

Hi Darren!

Thank you for reporting that NVDA announces the word "blank" after reading slide titles. We filed a report with NVDA, and they explained that it's expected behavior:

"This is intentional, it lets the user know that their interaction was successful, even if there is no content to report."

If you'd like to ask NVDA to change the standard behavior, I recommend posting a comment on the NVDA bug report here: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/13948

Thank.s Still having loads of accessibility issues though. We are testing with a blind colleague who uses NVDA reader and every turn something new pops up. Choosing between the video Player and Timeline player gets confusing if we have a full framed video. At the end of the video, I have a trigger set up for example to show a layer when the video ends. The layer does show but the text in the layer is not detected by the reader but has a yellow border arround it so a blind person has no idea it is there. Using the reader controls means nothing happens. I thought that text would automatically be detected and read while triggers and buttons require tabbing/ Arrow control...I had a chat with support and he was helpful but sometimes issues cannot be explained via email or chat. There does not seem to be an option to actually speak to support and share a screen to go through the issues.
