Adding a certificate to the end of a course

Jun 29, 2015

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way that I can incorporate a certificate to be released at the end of a course?

I have built 5 mini courses and I want the student to be presented with a certificate at the end that they can print off. I don't want the certificate to be generic, I would like the student to be able to have their name on it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be done?

Cheers,
Megan

Hi Rachel!

Storyline doesn't currently support certificates of completion. However, you may be able to modify the report.html file in your published output to make it look like a certificate. Here's how.

You could also use JavaScript triggers with a custom html page. Here's an excellent demo and downloadable sample project from one of our community members.

You are welcome to share your thoughts with our product development team here, but we do not share product road maps and I do not have an answer for this question.

Hi Rachel,

We've always stood by the assertion that certificates are typically something an LMS would and therefore should handle, but there's always a chance that could change. It's good to share additional ideas and thoughts on why having this feature is necessary and it's best to do so here as we can track and sort those and they go to our Product team.

This is an old thread but specific to my needs today. All of the examples shown are using Java or html. I have no clue how to use those programs. Is there a simpler way for me to get a certificate of completion with their name on it that I don't have to use those programs? We cannot use our LMS b/c these are for contract employees. I already requested the COC be an added feature. Any assistance would be helpful!

Thanks!

I notice these post are old, but hopefully still monitored.

I am new to storyline and have just finished my first on line, internal training course.

At the end of the course, I need to produce a certificate for the learner, but I also need some way to verify that the learner is who they say they are eg, the input of a name is not really good enough. The course can only be accessed once they have logged into their training portal within the company internet, so my main question is

Is there a way that the final pass sheet (or certificate) can draw in the learners log in identity from the main intranet page,

Many Thanks

Hey Paul, welcome to the community!

Storyline's built-in Print Results feature requires the learner to input their own name. However, Owen Holt came up with a Javascript workaround for automatically pulling the name from the LMS. Javascript is outside our wheelhouse, but I'm sure Owen would be happy to help if you have questions about his method!
