Adding functionality to Menu

Sep 18, 2014

Hi there, Is there anyway that we can add a tick to the screen name in the Menu to confirm the page has been visited by the learner?

We don't want the course locked down in anyway, learner can move freely across screens/topics but must visit each screen at least once - this Menu notification tick seems like a possible solution but is this at all possible in Storyline?

Thanks

Hello Annie, and welcome to Heroes!

There is not a way to add anything to the menu to show it has been viewed, however, when a slide is viewed, the slide title in the menu bar does grey out. As you can see here:

Are you having the content tracked through a LMS? If so, when you publish the course, under reporting and tracking, you can set the course to track using the number of slides viewed, to make sure they are viewing all the slides before completion.

If you need anything further, please let us know.

Thanks Emily for getting back to me on this.

Perhaps we can make it more obvious that the screen has been viewed, not a tick, but can the greying out you mention be altered in anyway? Thanks for taking the time to respond, this is an ongoing issue we have whereby when all screens must be visited (but not linearly) learners often have problems meeting this completion criteria.

Many thanks!

Hello Annie,

You can make adjustments to the color scheme in the player, which may help make the greying out a little more obvious, such as make the menu background a bit darker of a shade:

Not sure if this helps, but you go under the player menu, colors and effects, then show advanced color editing.

Let us know if you need anything else.
