Advanced interactivity for Storyline (API)
Mar 09, 2013
Two questions:
1. Can you point me to the most advanced video tutorial(s) on adding user interactivity and specifically, anything geared toward mobile devices?
2. Is there an API out for Storyline that allows programmers to enhance/add functionality to the user experience or even tying courses into CMS-driven systems? I know there was an API for Studio that I used and I'm hoping similar for Storyline. The fact that courses can be published in HTML5 would lead me to believe that some serious Javascript/jQuery functionality could be blended in. Am I wrong in thinking this?
Thanks for your help!

No API, there is an SDK planned, there are javascript triggers
Ok, thanks for the response. Is there any SDK release date in mind? Do you see any reason why someone couldn't write custom Javscript/jQuery functionality into their course for HTML5?
In regard to the first question, can you point me to the most advanced interactivity types, especially mobile-related? Thx! =)
No reason why you couldnt write custom javascript functionality
sorry not sure what tutorials are around, you can build most things in Storyline.
Daivid, JEanette, Mike and Tom have plenty of tutorials on this site that may help
Theodore's Reversi project is advanced, although apparently it won't work on mobile devices (I haven't tested it).
1. Is there any SDK release date in mind?
2. Also, does anyone know the scope of a variable that you create in Articulate? I assume it's generating JavaScript in the back-end, correct? Does the variable get set globally across your course OR does it go out of scope for each slide?
Variables are global
1. Is there any SDK release date in mind?
2. What is the concept of the SDK? (i.e. what would it allow a user to do or have access to ideally?)
Thanks!
Storyline looks like still working on the SDK/API. Their staff responded that they cannot provide a fix date as of now. The related post is here - http://community.articulate.com/forums/t/21794.aspx
